Transmission Electronic Control Unit Version - EEPROM Log Retrieval Process
- DAS:
EEPROM Log file retrieval process→Access Transmission Control Unit→Select Transmission Adaptation
- Select 'Display and Reset of Adaptation Data (Shift)'
- Select 'Saving Of Adaptation Data (For Development Only)'
- Select 'F2' button to continue
- The EEPROM log file has now been created. Continue with step 10 to retrieve the log file.
- Xentry:
EEPROM Log file retrieval process → Access Transmission Control Unit → Select the 'Adaptation' tab → From the drop down menu select 'Teach-in processes → 'Adaptation of the transmission' → 'Display and reset of adaptation values' → Adaptation values for shift operations → Scroll down using the right scroll bar until menu 'Development data (EEPROM)' is visible.
- Select the 'Development data (EEPROM)' menu and wait...........
- The EEPROM log file has now been created. Select the 'Continue' button at the bottom right corner.
- Select the 'Continue' button again to return to the adaptations sub menu (ignore the hexadecimal information)
Below is the process on how to retrieve the created EEPROM log file in the Star Utilities program. There are two ways to retrieve the log file: A.) From the 'Data Transfer' menu and B.) From the 'SDexplorer' menu. The 'SDexplorer' option is the preferable method as it allows to rename files when transferring a file to a USB memory device. This is very important when creating before and after adaptation EEPROM log files since either DAS and Xentry automatically over writes a log file whenever a new one is created using the same SDS machine. However, for single EEPROM log file retrieval, the 'Data Transfer' option uses the same file string as the 'SDexplorer' option.
- Start the 'Star Utilities' program and select the 'SDexplorer' menu → Install a USB memory device to one of the ports in the SDS machine → Select the 'Drive' button on the right task bar
- To retrieve the EEPROM log file that was created using the DAS software → from the left folder menu option select folder 'Xentry WriteFil' → then select folder 'tempfil' → then locate and highlight the EEPROMwerte log file of interest, and use the copy function button to transfer the file to the USB memory device. Make sure that the EHS log file is NOT selected. Either the log file will indicate langauge identifying it as a EEPROM log file as shown below, or there will just be a VIN number with the log file designation as will be shown in the log file retrieval section where the Xentry software was used to create the log file.
- To retrieve the EEPROM log file that was created using the Xentry software → from the left folder menu option select folder 'User Documents' → then select folder 'Xentry' → then select folder 'vgsnag2' → then locate and highlight the log file of interest, and use the copy function button to transfer the file to the USB memory device. Unlike the DAS retrieval method, the correct EEPROM log file is identified by the VIN number of interest with the log file designation.
As mentioned previously, the 'SDexplorer' option is the preferable file transfer method as it allows to rename files after transferring a file to a USB memory device. This is very important when creating before and after adaptation EEPROM log files since either DAS and Xentry automatically over writes the original log file whenever a new one is created using the same SDS machine.
- After transferring a EEPROM log file to a USB memory device → highlight the log file of interest located on the USB memory device → select the 'Rename' function → Rename the file while retaining the VIN number and log file designation (i.e. in this case 'before adapt' was added to the existing file name). If by accident the log file is highlighted in the folder option menu, then an error message will be displayed.
