Component Description For Intelligent Radar Sensor Control Unit - GF30.30-D-3305H
MODEL 906 with CODE JA7 (Blind Spot Monitoring)
Location
The radar sensors are mounted at the rear on the left and right on the respective inner side of the rear bumper. The radar sensor are attached on the side on the left and the right on the respective B-pillar.
Task
The radar sensors recognize vehicles in the blind spot. The radar sensors are ultra wideband radar sensors with the following properties:
- radar sensor detection range s = 0.5 to 3 m, at a resolution of s = 0.04 m
- detection angle of ∠ = 80° with angle measurement and ∠ = 140° detection only (tracing)
- radar sensor with f = 24 GHz carrier frequency
- method of operation: short pulse method with f = 5 GHz band width The radar sensor also have the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluate the input signals
- Output of signals
Reading in of signals
The radar sensor at the right rear (Master) reads in the following input signals via the engine CAN (CAN C):
- status information of the radar sensors on the left on the side, on the right and rear left
- detection data of the radar sensors on the left on the side, on the right and rear left
All radar sensors also receive the following signals via the engine CAN:
- wheel rotation directions: direction of the movement of the veh., by the ESP control unit® (N30/4)
- wheel speeds from ESP control unit®
- status of circuit 15 from the electronic ignition lock control unit (EIS) (N73)
- status of the Blind Spot Assist button from the electronic ignition lock control unit (EIS) via the interior CAN (CAN B) passed on by the UCP control unit (UCP) (N72/1)
- "circuit 61 ON" (engine runs) by the CDI control unit (N3/30) (engine 642.8), CDI control unit (N3/28) (engine 651), ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/29) (engine 271) or ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/23) (engine 272)
Evaluate the input signals
The input signals are evaluated by the integral microprocessors of the radar sensors.
Output of signals
Output of signals takes place via the engine CAN. The radar sensor at the rear right (Master) transmits the following signals via the engine CAN:
- warning buzzer request (A1h1)
- display request (A1p1)
- request to activate the left blind spot assist ready and warning indicator (M21/6e2) and the left blind spot assist ready and warning indicator (M21/7e2) via the electronic ignition lock control unit (EIS), passed on via the interior CAN to the left front door control unit (N69/1)
Function
The radar sensors work according to the Master/Slave principle. The "master" and the "slave" function can be determined by means of the connector coding. The "master function" is determined for the right rear radar sensor. That means that the radar sensor on the rear left, the radar sensor on the side on the right and the radar sensor on the side on the left transmit information via the engine CAN to the radar sensor on the rear right which evaluates the information and the passes on the respective requests or data via the engine CAN to the respective control units.
