CAUSE / EXPLANATION
It has been seen that lengthy and daunting diagnosis is occurring, as well as unnecessary parts replacements such as engine harnesses and CDI control units due to wrong pressure sensors being installed. Examples are:
- Boost Pressure Sensor vs. Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor
- Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Relative vs. Absolute Sensor
ACTION
Always verify the correct sensor part number via entering VIN in EPC. With the example of an Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor B60/4, two sensors are offered. One is calibrated for Relative Pressure which will read 0hpa at sea level. The other is calibrated for Absolute Pressure will read 1000hpa (1bar) at sea level. For this example the USA sensor should have code listed as valid for; 939K EPA13 CARB (USA) and 940k EURO. This is an Absolute Pressure Sensor.
