Ignition OFF, general points
With ignition OFF, first the engine and then the engine timing are switched off in the CDI control unit (N3/9).
Function sequence for ignition OFF
For ignition OFF the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) switches off the circuit 15 relay (N10/1kJ) via the chassis CAN (CAN E).
If the CDI control unit receives the "Circuit 15 OFF" signal over circuit 15 relay, the following components will be switched off and the processor power-down is started:
- Pressure regulating valve (Y74)
- Fuel injectors (Y76)
- Quantity control valve (Y94)
- Fuel pump (M3) over the fuel pump relay (N10/2kD) (model 204.0/9 up to 05/2009, model 212.0 up to 08/2009) or via the drive train CAN (CAN C), over the FSCU (N118) (model 204.0/9 as of 06/2009, model 204.2/3, model 207.3/4, model 212.0 as of 09/2009, model 212.2, model 218)
Ground is connected to "Circuit 31" from the on-board electrical system battery (G1) via the on-board electrical system battery ground point at the front right (W10) and over several ground lines to the ground point for the electronic assemblies compartment on the left (W16/5).
When the ignition is OFF, the CDI control unit is supplied with power from the on-board electrical system battery via "circuit 30 fused".
When the processor power-down is finished, the engine circuit 87 relay (N101) is switched off and the engine timing is disconnected from the on-board electrical system (switched off).
