Ignition OFF, function - GF07.10-P-1002OMA

ENGINE 651.9 in MODEL 207, 212 (except 212.098/298) as of model year 2014

ENGINE 651.9 in MODEL 218 as of model year 2014

Function requirements for ignition OFF, general points

Ignition OFF, general points

With ignition OFF, first the engine and then the engine management are switched off in the CDI control unit (N3/9).

Function sequence for ignition OFF

When the ignition is switched off, the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) operating via the interior CAN (CAN B) and the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) switches off the circuit 15 relay (N10/1kJ). The "circuit 15 OFF" signal is routed redundantly via the chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1) to the CDI control unit.

If the CDI control unit receives the "Circuit 15 OFF" signal over the circuit 15 relay, the following components are switched off:

The "circuit 31" ground connection is made by the on-board electrical system battery (G1) over the right front on-board electrical system battery ground point (W10) and several ground lines to the left electronic major assembly compartment ground point (W16/5) or the right electronic major assembly compartment ground point (W16/6) (with code (494) USA version) as of 01.09.13.

When the ignition is OFF, the CDI control unit is supplied with power from the on-board electrical system battery via "circuit 30 fused".

The power-down of the AdBlue® control unit (N118/5) is started via the drive train sensor CAN (CAN I) (with code U42 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment)) (model 212 (except 212.098/298)) or (with code U77 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment)) and (with code 494 (USA version)) (model 212 (except 212.098/298)) as of 01.09.13 or (with code U77 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) (model 207, model 212 (except 212.098/298), model 218) as of 01.09.14. During the control units power-down the remaining AdBlue® reduction agent is suctioned by the AdBlue® delivery pump (A103/2m1) over the AdBlue® switchover valve (A103/2y1) actuated by the AdBlue® control unit (with code U42 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) (model 212 (except 212.098/298)) or the AdBlue® extraction pump (A103/2m2) (with code U77 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) and (with code 494 (USA version)) (model 212 (except 212.098/298)) as of 01.09.13 or (with code U77 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) (model 207, model 212 (except 212.098/298), model 218) as of 01.09.14 from the AdBlue® pressure line.

The AdBlue® metering valve (Y129) is opened at the same time so that no vacuum arises in the AdBlue® pressure line. The duration of the run-on and the timing of the reduction agent return are dependent on the exhaust temperature as detected by the temperature sensor upstream of the SCR catalytic converter (B16/15) since excessively hot exhaust can damage the AdBlue® pressure line and other system components.

The AdBlue® delivery module heating element (A103/2r1) (with code U42 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) (model 212 (except 212.098/298)) or the AdBlue® pressure line heating element (R7/1) (with code U77 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) and (with code 494 (USA version)) (model 212 (except 212.098/298)) as of 01.09.13 or (with code U77 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) as of 01.09.14 (model 207, model 212 (except 212.098/298), model 218) and the AdBlue® container heating element (A103/1r1) (with code U42 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) (model 212 (except 212.098/298)) or (with code U77 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) and (with code 494 (USA version)) as of 01.09.13 (model 212 (except 212.098/298)) or (with code U77 (BlueTEC (SCR) diesel exhaust treatment) (model 207, model 212 (except 212.098/298), model 218) as of 01.09.14, at cold temperatures (< 0°C) prevent the AdBlue® reduction agent freezing in the AdBlue® container and in the pressure line.

IMPORTANT When computer power-down is complete, the engine circuit relay 87 (N10/1kN) is switched off and the engine management is disconnected from the on-board electrical system (switched off).

IMPORTANT Information about the partial function "no-load current switch off" is documented in the function description "engine OFF energy management function".
