DC Charge Connection Unit, Basic Function - GF47.70-P-9894A
Model all (CAR)
with code 83B (DC charging function)
Task
The DC current charge-connection unit monitors and controls the charging process of the high-voltage battery when connected to an external DC-voltage source (e. g. charging station).
The DC current charge-connection unit is connected to the network architecture of the vehicle.
Once the vehicle socket is connected with the voltage source, the DC current charge-connection unit communicates via a control line (Control Pilot) with the control box in the charging cable and/or with the charging station. In this connection, the output data of the voltage source are transmitted and the power consumption of the DC current charge-communication unit is accordingly adjusted. It is only then that the DC current charge-connection unit initiates the charging process.
The high-voltage battery can only be charged via the DC current charge-connection unit if a voltage source with direct voltage is available.
The DC current charge-connection unit processes amongst other things the following information:
- Circuit status
- high-voltage battery current
- High-voltage battery voltage
- Current/voltage request
- Lock/unlock socket flap request
- Lock/unlock charging cable socket request
- Battery disconnect switch status
- Engine running status (hybrid vehicles)
The DC current charge-connection unit processes these input factors and transmits amongst other things the following information:
- Charging voltage
- Charging current
- DC current charge-connection unit status
- Charging cable status (plugged in, not plugged in)
- Control Pilot status
- Socket flap status
- Charging cable socket lock status
- Fault messages
