Off-road program, general
The off-road program adapts the engine power output behavior, the accelerator pedal characteristic and the shifting behavior of the automatic transmission. The electronic traction system (ETS) is also activated and the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) are adjusted for off-road driving.
The off-road program button (N72s38) is replaced on model 166 with engine 651 (except code (498) Japan version) with the automatic transmission mode button (N72s32). The off-road program is thus discontinued on this model. Using the automatic transmission mode button, the transmission modes Economy "E", Sport "S" and Manual "M" can be selected.
