General
The starter control is realized automatically by the combustion engine control unit.
Function
The starting procedure ends if the engine has reached a rotational speed of 400 to 700 RPM or a starting time of approx. 5 to 40 s (depending on the coolant temperature). The powertrain control unit interrupts the negative activation to the circuit 50 starter relay. The starting procedure can only be interrupted by switching off the ignition.
In the case of a repeated starting, a blocking time of approx. 1.5 to 3 s exists after the end of the starting procedure. This prevents the rotating pinion of the starter from meshing with the toothing of the engine drive plate.
