General
The quantity control valve (2) has the following tasks:
- Regulation of fuel inflow to pump elements of high-pressure fuel pump (1)
- Interruption of fuel supply to pump elements of high-pressure fuel pump (1) when engine is switched off
- Closed-loop control of the fuel pressure in combination with the pressure regulating valve, fuel pressure sensor and combustion engine control unit
The quantity control valve (2) is installed in the high-pressure fuel pump (1).
Function
The fuel delivered by the fuel pump enters the high-pressure fuel pump flange. The fuel is forwarded to the quantity control valve (2) and to the fuel overpressure valve.
In line with the signal from the combustion engine control unit, the quantity control valve (2) regulates the fuel quantity that is supplied to the pump elements via an annular passage.
The quantity control valve (2) is actuated by the combustion engine control unit with a pulse width modulated signal. In the de-energized status, the quantity control valve (2) is open.
