Quality Control Inspector Training: Notes

The individuals who are charged with conducting the inspection must understand what is being evaluated and what constitutes the organization's expectations of the end product. The inspection should always begin with a review of the original complaint as it is imperative that issue is resolved by the work performed.

After verifying resolution of this complaint, the peripheral inspection is to be completed. This is intended to be a visual inspection of the general area of the repair. The inspector should be looking for all components that were disturbed to be properly reinstalled, fasteners torqued, lines and hoses secured and the area cleaned. Finally, as entrance and egress into the operator's area of the vehicle is usually required to facilitate a repair, it is of critical importance that there is no residual grease or dirt introduced by the technician. Any dirt or debris should be that of the customer.
