Remove/Install Coolant Temperature Sensor - AR15.60-P-2712MNM

Engine 177 in model 217, 222

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove left-hand air filter housing INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install top engine cover after the leak test. AR09.10-P-1151MNM
2 Remove hose (2) from exhaust gas turbocharger SPECIAL TOOL Hose clamp pliers Fig 3
3 Clamp off coolant hose (3) SPECIAL TOOL Clamp Fig 2
4 Remove coolant hose (3) from low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir and place to one side   AR09.41-P-0001MNM
5 Remove boot (1) on left exhaust gas turbocharger and place to one side TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp, boot to exhaust gas turbocharger/air filter *BA01.20-P-1003-01J 
6 Drain off coolant INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install center and front engine compartment lining only after leak test has been performed. AR20.00-P-1142MNL
7 Release and disconnect electrical connection from evaporator temperature sensor (B11/4)    
8 Remove screw/bolt (4) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, temperature sensor bracket to crankcase *BA07.04-P-1002-01Q 
9 Pull coolant temperature sensor (B114) with retaining plate (5) up and out INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seal.  
10 Remove retaining plate (5) from coolant temperature sensor (B114) When replacing the coolant temperature sensor (B11/4).  
11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Perform venting routine of engine management control unit (MCM)    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
13 Perform an engine test run and check engine for proper operation and leaktightness    
14 Install center and front lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105LF
15 Install upper engine cover
