Data Sharing Plan: Notes

The customer's fleet management system (FMS) maintains a database of complete repair order/case data. Through the FMS, customers are notified whenever a repair order (RO) is created or updated. The customer can send case data to the service provider to associate with a specific RO, so each party may annotate the record back and forth. Fig 2 illustrates the workflow in a typical data sharing plan.

These annotations are communicated electronically between the customer's FMS and the service provider's dealership management system (DMS) or case management system (CMS) to exchange and update repair information, approval, status, etc. This RP offers guidelines for standardizing this exchange.
