REMOVING Remove     
1 Read out and save variant coding of the engine management control unit (3) using the diagnostic system When replacing the engine management control unit (3).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   Engine 276.8 in model 238 AD00.00-P-2000-06LWO
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   Engine 276.8 in model 213 AD00.00-P-2000-04B
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)    
3 Remove upper engine cover    
4 Release and disconnect electrical connections (1, 2) on engine management control unit (3)    
5 Unclip engine management control unit (3) upwards and take it off    
6 Remove mount from engine management control unit (3) When replacing the engine management control unit (3).  
INSTALLING Install     
7 Attach mount to engine management control unit (3) When replacing the engine management control unit (3).  
8 Insert engine management control unit (3) with mount into the bracket    
9 Put together electrical connections (1, 2) and lock    
10 Install upper engine cover    
11 Switch on ignition When replacing the engine management control unit (3).  
12 Transfer stored data to new engine management control unit (3) When replacing the engine management control unit (3).

13 Release transport protection on engine management control unit (3) using the diagnostic system When replacing the engine management control unit (3).

14 Personalize and activate engine management control unit (/3) using the diagnostic system When replacing the engine management control unit (3).

WARNING Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
