Remove/Install Fuel Pump And Fill Level Sensor - AR47.20-P-7000MFD

DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Empty the fuel tank (10). IMPORTANT Use appropriate safety container. AR47.10-P-4001MFD 
2 Remove fuel tank (10). Engine 282 in model 118, 177, 247 with code ME08 (Hybrid drive 75-84 kW VARIANT (INCLUDING PLUGIN)) AR47.10-P-4100MFH
    Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247 Engine 282 in model 118, 177, 247
except code ME08 (Hybrid drive 75-84 kW VARIANT (INCLUDING PLUGIN))
IMPORTANT Only store fuel tank (10) in horizontal position.

3 Release and disconnect electrical connector (1) from fuel pump (M3) and electrical connector (2) from left fuel tank fill level sensor (10) fuel display (B4/1).    
4 Release and disconnect fuel line (3) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. IMPORTANT The number of fuel connections at the upper section (5) varies depending on the vehicle equipment.

5 Remove fuel line (3) from fuel tank (10).    
6 Remove locking ring (4). SPECIAL TOOL Claw-type wrench Fig 1
7 Lift upper section (5) and place to one side carefully. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that upper section (5) is seated correctly between the grooves on the fuel tank (10).
Replace flange seal (6).
 
8 Release locking clip from fuel pump and fill level sensor housing (7) in fuel tank (10) by pulling upward (arrow A).    
9 Carefully push fuel level sensor and fuel pump housing (7) in direction of arrow (arrow B) out of bracket (8) at base of fuel tank (10). Then remove together with the upper part (5).    
10 Seal exposed opening with suitable means. NOTES
Ensure scrupulous cleanliness.
The fuel system will otherwise be damaged.
 
11 Install in the reverse order.
