Mechanical Refrigerant Compressor, Basic Function - GF83.55-P-2001A
Engine all (CAR)
General
The mechanical refrigerant compressor draws in and compresses the refrigerant. It is driven by the engine via the belt drive.
Regulation of the mechanical refrigerant compressor is carried out steplessly by the climate control, control system.
Location
The mechanical refrigerant compressor is mounted on engine and integrated in the belt drive.

Function requirements
- Circuit 30t ON
- Climate control switched on
- Refrigerant compressor switched on (A/C function)
- Engine running.
Function
The climate control, control system regulates the output of the refrigerant compressor steplessly up to 100% through a regulation valve.
Two variants are currently used:
- Refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (1)
The climate control, control system can completely disconnect the power flow of the belt drive through a magnetic clutch. This in turn enables additional fuel savings to be made.
- Refrigerant compressor without magnetic clutch
This refrigerant compressor is equipped with torque limitation. An excessively high load causes the limiter to break. This ensures ongoing operation of the belt drive e.g. in the event of a seized refrigerant compressor.
