General 

The outlet air temperature sensors (1A to 1D) record the temperatures in the air ducts to the respective air outlets.

They are located in the air ducts to the side and footwell vents. Depending on the model and equipment installed, outlet air temperature sensors (1A to 1D) may also be located in the air shafts under the center console.

Function requirements 

• Circuit 15 on
• Climate control switched on

Function 

The outlet air temperature sensor (1) is an NTC sensor. NTC stands for a negative temperature coefficient.

To determine the temperature, the outlet air temperature sensor (1) uses the property that the resistance of the outlet air temperature sensor (1) decreases as the temperature increases.

The outlet air temperature sensor (1) delivers a variable voltage as a signal to the front signal acquisition and actuation module control unit as a measure for the temperature.

The front signal acquisition and actuation module control unit delivers the signals from the outlet air temperature sensor (1) to the upper or lower control panel depending on the model.

The upper or lower control panel finally forwards the information to the control of the climate control via a LIN connection.
