General
The multidisk brakes (1, 2, 3) are used for braking and holding the internal gear, sun gear or planetary gear of a planetary gear set. These are supported against the Transmission housing (4) to transfer the torque.
Function
A multidisk brake (1, 2, 3) consists of several internal plates (6) on an inner plate carrier and outer plates (5) on an outer plate carrier. The external plate carrier is permanently connected to the Transmission housing (4). The multidisk brakes (1, 2, 3) use double-sided disks (disks coated on both sides).
For shifting, different parts of the planetary gear set are held by hydraulic pressure being exerted on the multidisk brakes (1, 2, 3).
