Remove/Install Track Rod - AR46.40-P-0200MFA

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove left or right wheel and tire assembly.   AR40.10-P-1102MFA
2 Loosen counternut (2) on inner tie rod (1). INSTALLATION NOTES The tie rod (4) must always be counterheld. Otherwise the tie rod (4) will be damaged.
IMPORTANT After loosening, do not turn the counternut (2) on the inner tie rod (1) any more.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Jam nut, tie rod *BA46.40-P-1002-01Q 
3 Pry tie rod (4) off steering knuckle (6).   AR46.40-P-0200-02MFA 
    NOTES Always counterhold the ball head when removing the nut (3) and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise, the ball head or steering knuckle (6) will be damaged.
NOTES Do not damage boot (5) when prying off. Otherwise the tie rod (4) will have to be replaced.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, tie rod to steering knuckle *BA46.40-P-1001-01Q 
    SPECIAL TOOL Puller Fig 2
    SPECIAL TOOL Press Fig 4
    SPECIAL TOOL Repair spindle Fig 3
4 Remove tie rod (4) from inner tie rod (1). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Screw on tie rod (4) up to counternut (2).  
5 Install in the reverse order.    
  Finishing activity     
6 Perform chassis alignment.   AR40.20-P-0200MFA
