Fig 1 illustrates how the RP 1210 model is implemented.

• The RP 1210 software developer is interested in only the "RP1210 Application" box.
• The RP1210 VDAmanufacturer is responsible for the API, the DLL (which is ultimately responsible for changing the vehicle protocol into API command/responses), the VDA Drivers, and the physical interface device (VDA).
