RP 1210-Compliant - Single-Application/Single-Client (SA/SC)

These adapters can have a Single-Application with a single client connection. These are mainly purpose built adapters for a single protocol connection (i.e. J1939 only). These VDA devices cannot be listed as RP 1210-compliant oecause they do not allow 16 client connections. However, for all intents and purposes they work with purpose built applications needing no more than one in RP 1210 client.

TMC's RP 1210 Update Task Force is not trying to promote any particular type of VDA. This is only an attempt to provide clarification so that the end-user/fleet can make an informed decision when it comes to purchasing an RP 1210 adapter.

NOTE TO END-USERS:  If the end-user decides to run multiple applications simultaneously, it is their responsibility to confirm that these applications have been validated by the respective OEMs to co-exist and share VDA resources with the other applications that they want to run simultaneously. It is highly unlikely that most OEMs will support a user running more than one diagnostic application at the same time as their application.

NOTE TO OEM APPLICATION VENDORS:  Reprogramming or diagnostic applications that have time or code critical functions should call the RP1210_SendCommand{RP1210_Disallow_Further_Connections)  so that no other application/client can share VDA resources, as this could create a longer than usual message latency issue.

TMC's RP 1210 Update Task Force cannot guarantee that two OEM diagnostic applications can be ran simultaneously, and we discourage this practice. TMC sees MA/MC as a great way to run an OEM diagnostic application and a data logger to investigate application specific issues.
