Non-Windows Cross Platform Addendum: Notes

This RP was originally conceived for the Microsoft Windows 3.1 platform and has matured as have the Windows operating systems. As the industry moves forward, the need for a common API driver solution on non-Windows platforms has grown to the point that TMC needs to expand RP 1210 support to work on non-Windows computing platforms.

At TMC's 2016 Annual meeting, the Council's S.12 Onboard Vehicle Electronics Study Group created a Task Force to address non-Windows applications, which subsequently created TMC RP 1227 - MOBILE DEVICE COMMUNICATION API . Even though RP 1227 has been adopted, this section and the non-Windows addendums in this documen: will stand as written in RP 1210C.
