Glow Plug Signal

  1. Place transmission selector in Neutral position. If coolant temperature is above 86°F (30°C), jumper connections at coolant switch. Turn ignition to "RUN".
  2. Using voltmeter, check voltage at each glow plug lead. There must be a minimum of 11 volts at each lead for 6 seconds. After 6 seconds, voltage should drop to 4.2-5.3 volts.
  3. If all glow plugs do not have a voltage signal, replace glow plug harness and repeat test. If there is no voltage, go to Engine-to-Glow Plug Harness. If voltage is OK for 6 seconds, but drops to 0 volts, go to No. 2 Glow Plug Relay Signal. If voltage is OK, go to Glow Plugs & Harness.
