Personal Entry Code Numbers
The keyless entry system recognizes a personal entry code to allow entry into the vehicle. Personal entry code numbers must be programmed into the keypad to use the keyless entry system. The permanent entry code is fixed in the memory and is used to program personal entry codes.
- To program a personal entry code number, select a five-digit number. Before selecting a five-digit number, see INVALID PERSONAL ENTRY CODE NUMBERS .
- Enter the vehicle permanent entry code. The permanent entry code is located on the owner's warranty card, on a label inside of the glove compartment and on an owner's code card. A beeper will sound continuously for six seconds or until a five-digit personal code number is entered. When entering the personal entry code number, be sure to press each number within five seconds of pressing the previous number.
- Enter the selected personal entry code number. The keypad light will then turn off to allow the user to test the new code. Any personal entry code number previously entered into the system will be erased. To unlock the driver door, the current personal entry code number must be used. If the personal entry code number entry procedure is incorrect, the personal entry code number previously entered in the system will be retained.
- The permanent entry code and the personal entry code are retained in the memory when the voltage is removed from the module. The personal entry code number cannot be erased. It can only be replaced by another personal entry code number.
