Wheel Alignment

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Dodge Sprinter. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Vehicle wheel alignment is positioning of all interrelated front and rear suspension angles. These angles affect handling and steering of vehicle when it is in motion. Proper wheel alignment is essential for efficient steering, good directional stability, and proper tire wear.

The method of checking a vehicle's front and rear wheel alignment varies depending on manufacturer and type of equipment used. The equipment manufacturer's instructions should always be followed to ensure accuracy of alignment, except when Daimler Chrysler Corporation's wheel alignment specifications differ. On this vehicle, only front toe can be adjusted. Caster and camber are preset at factory and are not adjustable.

Check wheel alignment and make all wheel alignment adjustments with vehicle standing at its proper height. Typical wheel alignment angles and measurements are described in following paragraphs.
