Pinpoint Test D - Some Keypad Switch Illumination

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect keyless entry keypad connector. Measure resistance between faulty keypad input wire and Black ground wire at keypad connector. Measure resistance of faulty keypad input wire and Black ground wire at keypad connector. Is resistance is more than 10,000 ohms with button released and less than 5 ohms with button depressed, go to next step. If resistance is not correct, check wires for opens. If wires are okay, replace keypad.
    KEYPAD INPUT WIRE COLORS

    Wire Color Function
    Gray/Red 1/2 Input
    Orange/Black 3/4 Input
    Light Green/Red 5/6 Input
    Green/Black 7/8 Input
    Brown/Yellow 9/0 Input
    Black Ground
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 20-pin control module connector. Disconnect keyless entry keypad connector. Measure resistance of faulty keypad input wire between keypad connector and control module connector. Measure resistance of faulty keypad input wire between 20-pin connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms between connector and ground and less than 5 ohms between connectors, go to next step. If resistances are not correct, repair wires in question.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect keypad connector. Connect voltmeter between Pink wire at connector and ground. Connect jumper wire to faulty input wire at connector. Measure voltage on Pink wire while momentarily grounding input wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts when wire is grounded, keypad is okay. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace control module.
