Test A: Electronic Door Lock Control System Does Not Function

  1. Lock and unlock the doors several times using the door lock switch in each door. Do all the doors lock/unlock properly? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to TEST F: POWER DOOR LOCKS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY  .
  2. Check door lock touchpad illumination using the following method:
    • Depress any button on the door lock touchpad.
    • Check that door lock touchpad illuminates.
    • Wait until door lock touchpad lamp goes out (about 6 seconds), then press the next button.
    • Continue until all buttons have been checked.
    Does the door lock touchpad illuminate as each button is checked? If yes, go to next step. If no and door lock touchpad does not illuminate any for any button, go to TEST C: NO BUTTONS ILLUMINATE DOOR LOCK TOUCHPAD WHEN DEPRESSED  . If no and one or more buttons do not illuminate, go to TEST D: ONE OR MORE BUTTONS DO NOT ILLUMINATE DOOR LOCK TOUCHPAD WHEN DEPRESSED  .
  3. Unlock the driver side door from the door lock touchpad using the customer's personal code (supplied by customer). Does the left hand (driver side) front door unlock? If yes, go to next step. If no, check the customer's personal code and make sure it is correct, or enter a new code. If door still fails to unlock, go to TEST D: ONE OR MORE BUTTONS DO NOT ILLUMINATE DOOR LOCK TOUCHPAD WHEN DEPRESSED  .
  4. If more than 6 seconds has elapsed since the last step (if the door lock touchpad lamp has gone out), re-enter the customer's personal code. Press the 3/4 button within 6 seconds of entering the code. Do the passenger door (right front) and the body side door unlock? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to TEST D: ONE OR MORE BUTTONS DO NOT ILLUMINATE DOOR LOCK TOUCHPAD WHEN DEPRESSED  .
  5. If more than 6 seconds has elapsed since the last step, (if the door lock touchpad lamp has gone out), re-enter the customer's personal code. Press the 5/6 button within 6 seconds of entering the code. Does the liftgate unlock? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to TEST D: ONE OR MORE BUTTONS DO NOT ILLUMINATE DOOR LOCK TOUCHPAD WHEN DEPRESSED  .
  6. Unlock all doors using the left hand front door or right hand front door lock switch. Move driver side lock knob to the locked position. All doors should lock. Repeat procedure using driver side key cylinder switch. Does the lock knob switch function properly? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to TEST F: POWER DOOR LOCKS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY  .
  7. Take the key out of the ignition lock cylinder. Make sure all doors are securely closed. If more than 6 seconds has elapsed since the last step, (if the door lock touchpad lamp has gone out), re-enter the customer's personal code. Press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons simultaneously, within 6 seconds of entering the code. Do all the doors lock? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to TEST G: DOORS DO NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK USING DOOR LOCK TOUCHPAD  .
  8. Take the key out of the ignition lock cylinder. Make sure all doors are securely closed. Press any button on the door lock touchpad. Do the interior lamps turn on and does the beeper sound? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to TEST E: ILLUMINATED ENTRY OR BEEPER DOES NO FUNCTION WHEN DOOR LOCK TOUCHPAD BUTTON IS DEPRESSED  .
  9. The customer's personal code should be recorded, and reprogrammed when this test step is finished. Enter the permanent code on the door lock touchpad. Press (in sequence) buttons 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 and 1/2 (no more than 6 seconds should elapse between successive presses of the buttons). Is the alternate code accepted? If yes, Electronic Door Lock Control System is okay. If no, replace the electronic door lock control processor. See ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK CONTROL PROCESSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
