Description & Operation
The 6-way power driver seats provide horizontal, vertical and reclining adjustments. System consists of a control switch, 3 armature seat regulator motor assembly (tri-motor), vertical and horizontal screw drives and gear mechanism, recliner knuckle/hinge assembly, housing assembly and necessary wiring. Seat function switches are mounted on side of seat trim panel.
Horizontal movement is controlled by a transmission, lead screw and motor attached to the movable section of the track. Vertical drive unit is located on left side of the movable track. Vertical operation energizes center and rear armature and vertical drive units move seat up or down. In reclining operation, recliner armature operates a transmission knuckle/hinge assembly on front of seat back frame to achieve desired seat position. The motor unit is serviced as an assembly. The flexible shafts can be serviced individually.
Driver's seat is available with optional memory system. Memory system only works with gear selector in Park or Neutral position. Driver can set seat to desired position from power seat switch and recall from memory switches or remote transmitter.
The 4-way passenger's seat is only capable of horizontal and reclining adjustment. Power seat circuit protection is provided by fuse No. F20 (30-amp) located in engine compartment fuse box and an in-line circuit breaker located behind left side of instrument panel.
