Driveshaft Indexing

NOTE: If indexing the driveshaft does not eliminate the vibration, balance the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to Driveshaft Runout and Balancing .

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.

NOTE: Do not reuse the bolts for the pinion flange. Install new bolts or damage to the vehicle may occur.

NOTE: Index-mark the pinion flange and driveshaft flange.

Disconnect the rear driveshaft U-joint flange.
- Discard the 4 bolts.

Rotate the rear pinion flange 90 degrees clockwise.

NOTE: The index mark on the flanges will not align.

Connect the rear driveshaft and install 4 new bolts.
- Tighten to 112 Nm (83 lb-ft).
Test drive the vehicle.
Repeat the procedure if necessary.
