SUBJECT

Easy Entry Feature Inoperative 

SITUATION

When the easy entry lever is operated, the seatback does not tilt forward.

CAUSE

The clip at the end of the Bowden cable may not have been fully seated on the retaining lug for the release mechanism. As a result, the clip may have fallen off the retaining lug.

CORRECTION

Secure the clip at the end of the Bowden cable to the retaining lug.

PROCEDURE

  1. Remove the seatback cover per repair instruction RA 52 13 198 in order to access the end of the Bowden cable in the lower right area of the seatback frame.
  2. Position the black plastic clip at the end of the Bowden cable (1) just under the retaining lug on the seat frame (2).
  3. Press the clip upward onto the lug until it clicks into place.
