Possible Faults
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 BMW 745i, 2004 BMW 745Li, 2003 BMW 745i, 2003 BMW 745Li, and 2002 BMW 745i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Coil interruption or short-circuit cannot be detected.
The following faults can be distinguished from fault entries:
- High temperature control occurs when generator is overloaded. To be safe, generator voltage is reduced until generator has cooled down again. Charge indicator lamp does not light up.
- Mechanical fault occurs when generator is mechanically blocked or belt drive has failed.
- Electrical fault occurs when there is an exciter diode defect, excite interruption or overvoltage due to controller defect.
- Communication failure occurs when there is a wire defect between engine control and generator.
