Central Head Unit And Multimedia Platform (Champ): Notes

The Central Headunit and Multimedia Platform (CHAMP) is used as a head unit. The 2nd generation of the CHAMP is a further development.

The CHAMP is the head unit in the MOST network. The CHAMP of the 2nd generation is functionally identical  to the basic version of the Car Information Computer (CIC).

The main changes  to the CHAMP are:

• No entertainment server
• The navigation has many additional functions compared to the Car Communication Computer (CCC). Examples of this are night vision and perspective vision.
• It does not have a hard disk like the CIC, but has a memory card instead
• Integrate of the following former control units as functions in the head unit:
  • Digital tuner (DAB)
  • Digital tuner US (IBOC)
  • Satellite car radio (SDARS)
• Integrated telephone function (depending on optional equipment)
