31 11 001 Replacing front axle support

IMPORTANT:
Before removing front axle support:
In order to avoid damage to vehicle hoist, perform weight compensation on vehicle.
Load spring strut domes with sand bags.

WARNING:
SECURE ENGINE IN INSTALLATION POSITION WITH SPECIAL TOOL
to prevent it from falling down.
Necessary preliminary tasks
- Lower front axle support
- Remove BOTH LOWER WISHBONES FROM FRONT AXLE SUPPORT .
- Remove BOTH TRAILING LINKS FROM FRONT AXLE SUPPORT .
- Remove HYDRAULIC STEERING GEAR .

Remove both engine mounts from front axle support . See 22 11 001 REPLACING RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT (N63) or 22 11 011 REPLACING LEFT ENGINE MOUNT (N63) .
Take front axle support down and set down on a suitable surface.
Installation note:
Use previous front axle support as a template for modifying or replacing small parts.
Installation note:
Only on F01/02 vehicles with ARS:
Adapt holder of ARS hydraulic line if required.
Due to a modification on axle support (1), if necessary cut off tab (2) at the mark!
After installation
- Perform wheel alignment check . See 32 00 150 KDS CHASSIS/WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or 32 00 155 KDS WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT VEHICLE LOAD .
