System Testing

  1. Cold start engine and run at idle until normal operating temperature is attained. Remove hose (Green stripe) from injector mixer. Connect vacuum pump to hose end.
  2. Disconnect solenoid valve connector and apply 9.8 in. Hg of vacuum. If idle becomes unstable or engine stalls when vacuum is applied the EGR system is okay.
  3. Reconnect the solenoid valve connector and apply 9.8 in. Hg of vacuum to hose (Green stripe) removed from injector mixer. Engine idle should remain stable when vacuum is applied. If unstable idle occurs replace the solenoid valve.
