Using Voltmeter

Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect Data Link Connector (DLC) adapter (MB991529) to DLC terminal No. 4 or 5 and terminal No. 9. See Fig 1. Connect analog voltmeter to adapter. Operate specified switches and observe voltmeter operation. See INPUT SIGNAL INDEX  table. If input signal is sent to DLC, voltmeter needle will deflect once. If any circuit fails to operate properly, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYMPTOM TESTS.
