Before removing the steering gear box, refer to AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM
. Center the front wheels and remove the ignition key. Failure to do so may damage the SRS clock spring and render the SRS system inoperative, risking serious injury.
For power steering gear box and linkage removal procedures, follow numbered steps in illustration. See Fig 1. For power steering gear box and linkage installation procedures, follow numbers steps in illustration in reverse order. Letters in illustration refer to service point to observe while removing and installing power steering gear box and linkage.
