Generator Relay Continuity Check
- Remove the generator relay from the relay box inside the engine compartment.
- Set the circuit tester to the ohm range and check that there is continuity when the positive terminal of the tester is connected to terminal 4 of the generator relay and the negative terminal is connected to terminal 2. See Fig 1
.
- Check that there is no continuity when the positive terminal is connected to terminal 2 and the negative terminal is connected to terminal 4.
- If the continuity checks in steps 2
and 3
show a defect, replace the generator relay.
