TIN-18-00-010: MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF STATE LETTERHEAD - TAKATA RECALLS - 2004-07 Lancer, 2006-09 Raider, 2012-17 i-MiEV.

TIN-18-10-010 was released recently and states:

"With permission from the Michigan Department of State (DOS), on October 24, 2018, MMNA will be mailing letters to owners, with Michigan addresses, of certain 2004-2007 Lancer, 2006-2009 Raider, and 2012-2017 i-MiEV vehicles with open Takata recalls. These notification letters will be printed on a Michigan DOS letterhead and mailed in an envelope with the Michigan DOS return address. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the attached letter and envelope as some owners may ask you about their authenticity.

MMNA has ample inventory of Takata recall parts. To minimize any customer inconvenience, be sure your dealership has an adequate supply of recall parts on hand.

Thank you in advance for your immediate attention. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your District Parts and Service Manager."

TIN-18-13-003: ENGINE ECU SOFTWARE UPDATE IN TSB-18-13-001 & TSB-18-13-002 ADDRESSES BOTH DTC P0068 & P061A - 2018-19 Eclipse Cross.

TIN-18-13-003 was released recently and states:

"To maximize customer satisfaction with the all new Eclipse Cross, please perform the Engine ECU reprogramming outlined in TSB-18-13-001 and TSB-18-13-002 on any affected Eclipse Cross in your new or used vehicle inventory, or one that visits your dealership service department.

This Engine ECU software update was made available on June 7, 2018 to address MFI DTCs P0068 and P061A that have been improperly set. The Engine ECU only needs to be flashed once with the updated software, to address both MFI DTCs.

When reprogramming the Engine ECU software to resolve DTC P0068 or P061A, be sure to first check the software part number as described in TSB-18-13-001 and TSB-18-13-002.

If the Software Part Number listed is 1860D11603 or higher, then the software update for P0068 and P061A has been completed. There is no need to complete the procedure in both TSBs, as software level 1860D11603 addresses both issues.

Many of the vehicles affected by SR-18-007 (FCM-ECU Reprogramming) and/or SR-18-008 (ASC Hydraulic Unit ECU Reprogramming) may not have received this Engine ECU software upgrade yet - it will be a good opportunity to reprogram the Engine ECU when the vehicle is brought in to have SR-18-007 and/or SR-18-008 completed.

Always obtain the customer's approval before completing the Engine ECU reprogramming on a customer owned vehicle."

MMNA will request the parts through the Warranty Material Return System. Please send the parts as soon as you receive the Material Return Report. We highly appreciate your help and cooperation.

ATIN-18-SR-007-A: FCM-ECU REPROGRAMMING SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN - 2018-19 Eclipse Cross, 2017-18 Outlander, 2018 Outlander PHEV, 2018 Outlander Sport/RVR.

ATIN-18-SR-007-A was released recently and states:

"A safety recall campaign will be released today for FCM-ECU reprogramming on certain 2017-2018 Outlander built between August 1, 2016 and June 13, 2018; 2018 Outlander PHEV built between November 13, 2017 and June 25, 2018; 2018-2019 Eclipse Cross built between December 26, 2017 and June 21, 2018; and 2018 Outlander Sport built between August 8, 2017 and June 25, 2018".

Do not sell or deliver any affected 2017-2018 Outlander, 2018 Outlander PHEV, 2018-2019 Eclipse Cross, 2018 Outlander Sport until this recall has been performed.  Please check the Most Recent: Open Campaign List e-report to identify affected vehicles in your new vehicle inventory. The Recall Bulletin outlining the repair procedure will be available today on MEDIC and MDL.

Due to incorrect software, the FCM-ECU may apply braking for longer than needed, even after a pedestrian is no longer detected. If the FCM-ECU software activates the brake for longer than necessary, the driver may react by applying additional braking. The resulting rapid deceleration of the vehicle can increase the risk of a rear-end collision.

Notification letters are scheduled to begin mailing to owners of affected vehicles on October 16, 2018, requesting they contact their local Authorized Mitsubishi dealership to schedule an appointment to have this recall performed. Some vehicles are also affected by SR-18-008 "ASC Hydraulic Unit-ECU Reprogramming" campaign-please ensure that vehicles affected by both SR-18-007 and SR-18-008 have the FCM-ECU AND Hydraulic Unit ECU reprogrammed on the same visit.

Affected new vehicle inventory VINs can be reviewed on the Mitsubishi Dealer Link in the Most Recent: Open Campaign List available under the service section of "e-reports."

Dealers must review the Warranty Superscreen to confirm if any vehicles in their new or used vehicle inventories are affected, and conduct this campaign prior to delivering them.  When checking for applicability of this campaign (C1810R), please check for and complete any other open campaigns. Always obtain the customer's approval before completing a campaign on a customer owned vehicle."

IMPORTANT: Affected new or used inventory vehicles must be repaired before the vehicle is sold/delivered. Dealers must check their inventory vehicles' VINs on the Warranty Superscreen to verify whether the vehicle is involved in this recall campaign. It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to sell/deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by the notification under a sale or lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied.

ATIN-18-SR-008-A: ASC HYDRAULIC UNIT ECU REPROGRAMMING SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN - 2018 Eclipse Cross, 2017-18 Outlander, 2018 Outlander PHEV, 2018 Outlander Sport/RVR.

ATIN-18-SR-008-A was released recently and states:

"A safety recall campaign will be released today for ASC Hydraulic Unit ECU reprogramming on certain 2017-2018 Outlander built from August 1, 2016 to April 6, 2018; 2018 Outlander PHEV built from November 13, 2017 to April 9, 2018; 2018 Eclipse Cross built from December 26, 2017 to April 12, 2018; and 2018 Outlander Sport built from August 8, 2017 to April 13, 2018".

Do not sell or deliver any affected 2017-2018 Outlander, 2018 Outlander PHEV, 2018 Eclipse Cross, 2018 Outlander Sport until this recall has been performed.  Please check the Most Recent: Open Campaign List e-report to identify affected vehicles in your new vehicle inventory. The Recall Bulletin outlining the repair procedure will be available today on MEDIC and MDL.

The software for the Hydraulic Unit Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may be incorrect, possibly preventing the intervention of a safety system such as automatic emergency braking, Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Active Stability Control (ASC), or the Brake Auto Hold (BAH) function when any of these systems are in use. If the safety systems do not function as intended, it can increase the risk of a crash.

Notification letters are scheduled to begin mailing to owners of affected vehicles on October 16, 2018, requesting they contact their local Authorized Mitsubishi dealership to schedule an appointment to have this recall performed. Some vehicles are also affected by SR-18-007 "FCM-ECU Reprogramming" campaign-please ensure that vehicles affected by both SR-18-007 and SR-18-008 have the FCM-ECU AND Hydraulic Unit ECU reprogrammed on the same visit.

Dealers must review the Warranty Superscreen to confirm if any vehicles in their new or used vehicle inventories are affected, and conduct this campaign prior to delivering them.

When checking for applicability of this campaign (C1809R), please check for and complete any other open campaigns. Always obtain the customer's approval before completing a campaign on a customer owned vehicle."
