IDLE FLUCTUATION WHEN TURNING ON AIR CONDITIONING - 2008-17 Lancer, 2008-15 Lancer Evolution & Ralliart, 2010-14 Lancer Sportback.
Some customers have reported idle fluctuation when engaging the air conditioning, after adding an aftermarket air intake filter and tubing. One possible explanation may be the induction kit. Some induction kits do not have shielding from the radiator and condenser fans, causing dramatic changes to the Mass Airflow Sensor. These changes can then lead to idle instability.
To verify that the added air intake filter and tubing are the cause of the idle fluctuation, place a cardboard shield between the fan and the air filter. If idle stability returns with the shield in place, advise the customer to remove the aftermarket parts and return the vehicle to factory specifications.

√ WATER LEAK FROM ROOF ANTENNA BASE - 2014-16 Outlander.
When diagnosing a water leak in the rear of the vehicle and it has been determined that the source of the water leak is coming from the roof antenna base, MMNA is requesting additional actions be taken prior to removal of the roof antenna base.
- With the rear headliner dropped down, take a photo of the roof antenna base nut area, showing the water leak. Post the photos in the PRC.
- Take photos of the roof antenna base seal as installed on the roof. Post the photos in the PRC.
- Using a torque wrench set to 30 in-lb initially, measure the roof antenna base nut torque value. Increase the torque wrench setting to 36 in-lb and measure the roof antenna base nut torque value again. The torque specification for the roof antenna base nut is 44 +/- 8 in-lb.
- Remove the roof antenna base nut and take photos of the washer. Post photos in the PRC.
- With the roof antenna base removed from the roof, take photos of the underside portion of the roof antenna base. Post photos in the PRC.

ATIN-17-SR-002-B: DOOR LATCH SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN - Certain 2016 Outlander and Outlander Sport/RVR.
ATIN-17-SR-002-B was released recently and states:
"A safety recall campaign is being conducted for door latches on certain 2016 Outlander vehicles built from May 11, 2015 to March 14, 2016 and 2016 Outlander Sport vehicles built from January 11, 2016 to July 8, 2016. Do not sell or deliver any affected 2016 Outlander or 2016 Outlander Sport vehicles in your new vehicle inventory until this recall has been performed. Please check the Most Recent: Open Campaign List e-report to identify affected vehicles in your new vehicle inventory.
Recall Campaign Bulletin SR-17-002, outlining the repair procedure, will be made available today on MDL and MEL. The number of door latches to be replaced and the door latch part numbers are VIN-specific. Prior to starting repairs, it is imperative that you first check the Warranty Superscreen for the applicable Campaign Operation Numbers. Cross reference the Campaign Operation Numbers with the Part Numbers in the PARTS INFORMATION section of SR-17-002 to determine the correct part numbers and affected latches for each vehicle.
To expedite the repair of affected new vehicles in your inventory, your DPSM will provide you a list of these vehicles and the part numbers applicable to each vehicle. Dealers will be force allocated the correct combination of parts based on the number of affected VINs in their new vehicle inventory. Parts shipments are processed via the 'R' order type and were shipped via next day delivery, for arrival on Saturday, 6/24/2017 . Please refer to Parts Bulletin DL-OU-01-17 for additional information.
As a reminder, parts are extremely limited and MMNA has sent interim owner notification letters (sample copy included below) to approximately 35,000 affected owners, informing them that parts are not available and that they will be re-notified once parts are available . Additionally, the owners receiving interim letters have been informed that if their vehicle's door(s) are not latching properly, they may bring their vehicle into an Authorized Mitsubishi Dealership for inspection. If a customer presents their vehicle for inspection, verify the customer's concern , and check the Superscreen to determine which specific latches are part of this recall. If the subject latch is part of this recall, order the parts and perform the recall. If the subject latch is not included in this recall, contact your DPSM. Again, parts are extremely limited, so do not perform the recall on a customer owned vehicle unless the customer presents the vehicle for inspection, and the issue is confirmed. Additional parts will arrive late-July and "remedy available" notification letters will be mailed to all affected owners at that time.
Dealers must review the Warranty Superscreen to confirm if any vehicles in their new or used vehicle inventories are affected, and conduct this campaign prior to delivering them. When checking for applicability of this campaign (C1702A, C1702B, C1702C, or C1702D), please check for and complete any other open campaigns. Always obtain the customer's approval before completing a campaign on a customer owned vehicle."
TIN-15-SR-005-B: PASSENGER SUN VISOR SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN - OWNER RE-NOTIFICATION - 2000 - 2005 Eclipse and 2001 - 2005 Eclipse Spyder.
TIN-15-SR-005-B was released recently and states:
"MMNA will be re-notifying approximately 70,000 customers who have not had the Passenger Sun Visor Safety Recall completed on their vehicles. The re-notifications will request them to contact their local Authorized Mitsubishi dealership to schedule an appointment and have this recall performed. Sample copies of the re-notification communications are included below this TIN for your familiarization.
Affected vehicles include certain 2000 - 2005 Eclipse vehicles built April 5, 1999 - December 17, 2004 and 2001 - 2005 Eclipse Spyder vehicles built January 19, 2000 - March 18, 2005. During a frontal accident resulting in frontal air bag deployment, there is the potential for interaction between the deploying passenger air bag and the passenger sun visor if the sun visor is in the down position. Depending on the position and angle of the sun visor in the down position, the deploying passenger air bag may remove the sun visor, propelling it rearward. In a worst case scenario, the removed sun visor could strike a passenger seated in the front passenger seat, increasing their risk of injury.
Dealers are requested to perform Recall Bulletin SR-15-005 , to install a tether strap on the passenger sun visor to prevent potential removal of the sun visor by the deploying passenger air bag.
Dealers are reminded to focus on providing an exceptional customer experience, maximizing this opportunity to retain these customers for future service needs. If you have any questions, immediately address them to your DPSM.
Having the necessary parts available at your dealership to complete these safety recalls is critical to minimizing your customers' inconvenience-contributing to your efforts to provide an exceptional customer experience. As a result, some dealers may be force allocated stock using a formula based on their current inventory positions, the proximity and percentage of applicable registered VINs by ZIP code. Parts shipments are processed via the 'R' order type and started shipping along with your scheduled stock order beginning Thursday, June 29, 2017. Dealers may place additional orders via the MDL.
Dealers must review the Warranty Superscreen to confirm if any vehicles in their used vehicle inventories are affected, and conduct this campaign prior to delivering them. When checking for applicability of this campaign (C1505E), please check for and complete any other open campaigns. Always get the customer's approval before completing a campaign on a customer-owned vehicle."
TIN-15-SR-004-G: ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN - OWNER RE-NOTIFICATION - Certain 2006 - 2009 Eclipse and 2007 - 2009 Eclipse Spyder.
TIN-15-SR-004-G was released recently and states:
"MMNA will be re-notifying approximately 30,000 customers who have not had the ABS Hydraulic Unit Safety Recall completed on their vehicles. The re-notifications will request them to contact their local Authorized Mitsubishi dealership to schedule an appointment and have this recall performed. Sample copies of the re-notification communications are included below this TIN for your familiarization.
Affected vehicles include certain 2006 - 2009 Eclipse vehicles built April 20, 2005 - February 13, 2009 and certain 2007 - 2009 Eclipse Spyder vehicles built December 23, 2005 - February 13, 2009. Over time, corrosion may form on the internal valves of the ABS hydraulic unit, causing one or more of the valves to seize during operation of the ABS hydraulic unit.
Dealers are requested to perform Recall Bulletin SR-15-004REV , which starts with instructions to flush and clean the brake system with high quality brake fluid (DOT 4). The ABS hydraulic unit should then be tested for sufficient valve movement. If insufficient valve movement is experienced, the ABS hydraulic unit should be replaced. The dealer must also amend all available vehicle markings and documentation to indicate that DOT 4 brake fluid is required.
Dealers are reminded to focus on providing an exceptional customer experience, maximizing this opportunity to retain these customers for future service needs. If you have any questions, immediately address them to your DPSM.
