Purge Control System Check

  1. Connect the hand vacuum pump to the nipple A of the evaporative emission purge solenoid.

  2. When the engine is cold or hot, apply a vacuum of 53 kPa (7.7 psi), and check the condition of the vacuum.
ENGINE CONDITION DESCRIPTION - WHEN ENGINE IS COLD (ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE: 40°C (68°F) OR LESS)

Engine condition Normal condition
Continuous idling mode Vacuum is maintained.
ENGINE CONDITION DESCRIPTION - WHEN ENGINE IS HOT (ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE: 80°C (176°F) OR HIGHER)

Engine condition Normal condition
Continuous idling mode (after 4 minutes have passed since the engine was started) Vacuum will leak.
