Vehicle Speed Sensor

NOTE: Faults in vehicle speed sensor circuit may set Code 14. To test system, see CODE 14 diagnostic procedures in TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.

To test sensor, remove instrument cluster (sensor is a reed switch inside cluster). While slowly rotating speedometer drive receptacle, check continuity between terminals of instrument cluster connector. See Fig 1 . If continuity does not exist twice for each revolution, replace speedometer assembly.
