Performance Test

Test should be made with car doors open, temperature lever to the left, and A/C control set at "MAX".

  1. Disconnect and plug water valve diaphragm hose. Connect water valve diaphragm to vacuum tank output with a "T" fitting. Disconnect and plug temperature door vacuum actuator hose. Place an auxiliary fan in front of radiator.
  2. Remove valve fitting cap at VIR. Install Adapter J-5420 on low pressure gauge hose, and connect adapter to valve fittings on VIR, then momentarily open low pressure gauge valve to purge gauge hose.
  3. Remove compressor high pressure valve protective cap and install high pressure gauge hose with Adapter J-25499. Be sure high pressure gauge valve is closed. Momentarily open high pressure gauge to purge gauge and hose.
  4. With transmission in "PARK" or "NEUTRAL" and parking brake applied, adjust engine speed to 2000 RPM, then lower hood. After temperature and humidity have been determined, compare test results with appropriate Performance Chart.
  5. After test is complete, disconnect gauge hoses and install protective caps. Install valve fitting cap on VIR.
