Pump/Motor Assembly
CAUTION:
Before servicing any component which contains high pressure, it is mandatory that hydraulic pressure in the system be discharged. With ignition off, pump brake pedal a MINIMUM of 20 times using full pedal strokes. When a definite increase in pedal effort is felt, pump pedal 2 more times.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge system pressure. Unplug electrical connections at hydraulic pump motor and pressure warning switch. Remove fluid from reservoir. Unscrew hydraulic accumulator. Ensure no dirt particles fall into open port.
- Remove pressure line fitting at pump. Remove pressure line and "O" rings. Wire clip and pull return hose fitting out of pump body. See Figure. Remove bolt attaching pump motor to hydraulic booster/master cylinder assembly.
- Remove pump/motor assembly by sliding off of locating pin. To install, reverse removal procedure. Inspect "O" rings and replace if damaged. Install new grommets. Fill reservoir to "MAX" level.
