Code C553, CRTC Keep Alive Memory Error

Code C553 indicates that the keep alive, or long term memory in the CRTC has been reset. This will be the case whenever power is removed from the CRTC (such as, disconnecting the battery cables). This code should be cleared from memory after restoring the CRTC power supply. If this code continually sets without a Code B552, check circuit No. 805 (crank input to CRTC) for an open. If not open, make a complete check of battery state of charge and condition, as this code is more sensitive than Code B552. A shorted cell in the battery may result in this code setting. CRTC keep alive memory is the memory for radio, such as preset stations, volume, and balance settings. It is also the memory for personal message storage.
