Section 12 (Anti-Lock Brake System): Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1990 Buick Riviera and 1990 Buick Reatta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Teves 4-wheel Anti-Lock Brake System is designed to prevent wheel lock-up during heavy braking. This allows driver to maintain steering control and vehicle to stop in shortest distance.

Major component parts of system include: pump motor assembly, hydraulic accumulator, pressure switch, fluid reservoir with integral filter, 4 wheel speed sensors, valve block assembly, fluid level sensor, Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), 2 relays, hydraulic booster/master cylinder assembly, and "BRAKE" and "ANTI-LOCK" warning lights. See Figure . Messages can also appear on Graphic Control Center (GCC) to indicate problem.
