Note on Intermittents

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood and 1990 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Probe fuel pump test terminal with a voltmeter to ground. Fuel pump test terminal is located on left inner fender panel, near battery. With key on, observe voltmeter. Voltmeter should read battery voltage for 2 seconds and drop to zero. If voltmeter stays at battery voltage for longer than 2 seconds, check for fuel pump relay contacts sticking. Repeat test several times.

Continue probing fuel pump test terminal to ground and crank engine. Voltage should drop immediately to zero when cranking stops. If not, check oil pressure switch for sticking contacts.
