Ignition Switch: Installation
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Move slider switch to extreme right position, then move slider one detent to left. Ensure lock cylinder is in LOCK position. Connect ignition switch rod to ignition switch. Connect ignition switch to steering column jacket, but do not tighten screws.
- Cycle ignition switch lock cylinder through all switch positions to ensure correct switch adjustment. Adjust ignition switch by sliding switch up and down until lock cylinder functions properly in all positions. Tighten ignition screws to 35 INCH lbs. (4 N.m). Depress dimmer switch until a 3/32" drill bit can be inserted into adjusting pin hole. See Figure.
- Connect dimmer switch to ignition switch but do not tighten screws. Connect dimmer switch rod to dimmer switch. Adjust dimmer switch by sliding switch up or down until a click is heard when the multi-function lever is pulled to activate high and low beam. Tighten screws to 35 INCH lbs. (4 N.m). Remove drill bit.
- Connect electrical connectors. Install nuts to steering column bracket and tighten to 20 ft. lbs. (27 N.m). Install shift indicator, knee bolster and deflector. On vehicles with SIR, connect SIR system. Check AIR BAG light for system faults. See AIR BAG SYSTEM under SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
