DTC B2947: Security System Sensor Power Circuit Low: Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Pontiac Grand Am and 1999 Oldsmobile Alero. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
If circuit is shorted to ground, fuse will blow. Check fuse before performing diagnostics.
- Perform THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. Go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM connector C3. Disconnect Passlock(R) sensor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between Passlock(R) terminal "C" (White wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If reading is infinite resistance (OL), go to step 4 . If any resistance is indicated, go to next step.
- Repair short to ground in White wire between BCM and Passlock(R) cylinder. After repairs, go to step 11 .
- Check for poor connection at BCM connector C3. If poor connection is found, go to next step. If connections are okay, go to step 6 .
- Repair poor connection at BCM connector C3. After repairs, go to step 11 .
- Check for poor connection at Passlock(R) connector terminal "C" (White wire). If poor connection is found, go to next step. If connections are okay, go to step 8 .
- Repair poor connection at Passlock(R) connector terminal "C" (White wire). After repairs, go to step 11 .
- Turn ignition off. Remove terminal B4 (White wire) from BCM connector C3. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe BCM outputs. Observe Passlock(R) power data values. If Passlock(R) power data value is ACTIVE, go to next step. If Passlock(R) power data value is not ACTIVE, go to step 10 .
- Replace Passlock(R) sensor. See IGNITION SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 11 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Go to THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
