Data Link Communications Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Scan tool should power up. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL INOPERATIVE  .
  2. Using scan tool, retrieve any class 2 DTCs. If any BFC DTCs are found, perform appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. See BFC DTC DEFINITIONS  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are set or scan tool does not communicate with BFC, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, communicate with other modules along class 2 serial data line. Scan tool should communicate with all modules. If scan tool does not communicate with modules, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH COMPONENTS  .
