Installation Procedure

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in GM Vehicles Cautions and Notices.
  1. Spread the console side panels apart and install the shifter assembly.
  2. Install the shifter fasteners. Tighten:  Tighten the shifter fasteners to 9 N.m (79 lb in).

  3. Connect the shifter backlight wire harness connector.
  4. Insert the park lock cable into the park lock cam on the shifter.
  5. Slide the park lock cable into the shifter and assure that the cable locking tab is fully engaged.
  6. Connect the BTSI solenoid wire harness connector.

  7. Snap the shift cable terminal onto the shifter pin.
  8. Fasten the shift cable to the shifter. Tighten:  Tighten the shift cable fastener to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  9. Adjust the shift cable as follows:
    1. Place the shifter into the N (neutral) position.
    2. Loosen the shifter adjuster nut.
    3. Tighten the adjuster nut. Tighten:  Tighten the adjuster nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  10. Install the left side console trim plate. Refer to CONSOLE TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  11. Install the console trim plate. Refer to TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - CONSOLE in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
