Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - CONSOLE in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Remove the left side console trim plate. Refer to CONSOLE TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Unsnap the shift cable terminal from the shifter pin.

  4. Remove the shift cable bolt and cable from the shifter.
  5. Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock control wire harness connector from the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid.
  6. Disengage the locking tab on the park lock cable and lift the cable out of the slot in the shifter.
  7. Unhook the park lock cable from the park lock cam on the shifter.

  8. Disconnect the shifter backlight wire harness connector.
  9. Remove the shifter fasteners.
  10. Spread the console side panels apart and remove the shifter assembly.
